AbstractOzone The ozone is essential to life and the energy balance of the planet. Anthropogenic contributions of pollutants in the atmosphere may lead to significant reductions in its contents with climatological conditions as consequences of the change of atmosphere temperature profile and the formation of the Antarctic "ozone hole", which affects mid-latitude regions such as the South of Brazil, in a phenomenon known as "Secondary Effect of the Antarctic ozone hole". On October 22, 2010 the phenomenon was observed through a drop in ozone total column values, about the southern Space Observatory, INPEMCTI (29.42° S; 53.87° O) in São Martinho da Serra, Rio Grande do Sul, observed by OMI satellite of NASA. Performing analysis of stratospheric Potential Vorticity fields of isentrópicas surfaces, made of the reparse data NCEPNCAR and retroactive trajectories of air masses, using the NOAA HYSPLIT model, it was found that the poor air mass in ozone that passed through southern Brazil was of polar origin. Following new trends of study on ozone, an analysis was conducted of standards troposféricos to this day, where they observed, through the daily average wind fields in 250 hPa and 500 hPa pressure Omega on, at sea level, between 1000 and 500 hPa thickness and GOES satellite, a system 10 highlighted front crossed over southern Brazilinput position, associated with the Jet's equatorial and polar on 250 hPa of surface low pressure region, supporting the formation of the band of cloud cover seen in the satellite image. Front post in the region, forming an area of subsidence probably favoured the stratospheric air intrusion to the Troposphere and the poor on air transport in the region Antarctic ozone hole toward the South of Brazil.
